Experts positively evaluate Georgia's DRG system

International organizations and foreign partners positively evaluate Georgia’s diagnosis-related group (DRG) funding model for medical facilities one year after its introduction.

Georgia’s Health Ministry closely collaborated with the National Health Agency of Latvia during the development and implementation of the DRG system. International organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), were actively involved in the planning and implementation.

The experts from the National Health Agency of Latvia and WHO positively evaluated Georgia’s achievements, saying the country has made significant progress.

Georgia launched the DRG system in November 2022. Within one year of the reform’s initiation, patient co-payments for medical services were significantly reduced, from 27% to 10%.
