Ex-President Zourabichvili: Open letter reflects GD’s anxiety; doubts U.S. President reads it soon
“The open letter confirms significant anxiety within the Georgian Dream, but I doubt the U.S. President will ever read it—he probably doesn’t have much time today,” stated former President Salome Zourabichvili during a briefing.
Zourabichvili urged the public to read the open letter, asserting that it reveals the government’s desperation.
“The letter is shameful, as it displays a complete lack of protocol and fraternal regard. I do not know who authored it or in what mood it was written, but it clearly reflects the complete despair of the government—an indication that Bidzina Ivanishvili has failed to resolve anything and will be unable to address the consequences of the MEGOBARI Act. It is evident that there is a great deal of anxiety within the Georgian Dream circle, and this letter is a manifestation of that anxiety. I am very curious whether the U.S. President will ever read it; perhaps he is less free today. However, anyone who does will be profoundly saddened—sad because this will be a shocking letter coming from a country that has received unwavering support from America in every possible way for more than 30 years.
The U.S., which practically built our army and at least prepared it to meet today’s modern standards. America, which helped elevate the Georgian economy. For thirty years, we were among the top beneficiaries of American aid per capita worldwide. Is this our response—our traditional Georgian gratitude? I do not know where our traditions are disappearing, but this situation is a stark indicator of the moral and political collapse of the government. This is what we must recognise today,” Zourabichvili stated.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze addressed an open letter to Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, reaffirming Georgia’s commitment and advocating for balanced relations rooted in mutual respect.
