European Integration Committee Chair: Inciting crime equates to collaboration and will be met with firm action
“Everyone must understand that inciting and supporting crime in any form constitutes collaboration with criminal activity,” stated Levan Makhashvili, Chair of the European Integration Committee.
According to Makhashvili, there should be no surprise when relevant state agencies take decisive measures against individuals involved in criminal acts.
“What these individuals are doing is a blatant attempt to evade responsibility and a clear continuation of actions we’ve repeatedly seen on TV channels—acts that are directly linked to motivating and facilitating crime. No one will escape accountability. It is essential to recognize that inciting and supporting crime in any form is, fundamentally, collaboration with criminal elements. The relevant authorities will act accordingly,” he emphasized.
On April 29, law enforcement conducted searches at the residence of Aleko Tskitishvili, Executive Director of the Human Rights Centre, as well as at the homes of journalist and Nanuka Fund founder Nanuka Zhorzholiani, and Mariam Bajelidze, one of the founders of the Sirtskhvilia (Shame) movement.
