European Georgia urges Prosecutor’s Office for probing into influence of Dimitri Gabunia in Presidential Administration

Irma Nadirashvili a member of European Georgia Party urges General Prosecutor’s Office to probe into the influence of Dimitri Gabunia, President’s Parliamentary Secretary in the Presidential Administration.

Nadirashvili said that President presented Giorgi Mirotadze, Gabunia’s business partner in Attorney Bureau to the parliament for the post of a member of National Bank’s Council. “The case has to do with political nepotism. Mr. Gabunia has a direct influence on President of Georgia,” Nadirashvili said.

Partners of Attorney Bureau of Dimitri Gabunia, Parliamentary Secretary of President of Georgia were questioned at General Prosecutor’s Office on September 28. Giorgi Talakhadze, Giorgi Mirotadze and Lasha Khurtsilava were summoned for questioning regarding the pardoning of prisoners by President Salome Zurabishvili on August 28. Gabunia was also questioned at the main investigation body into the so-called pardoning case.

On September 20, the General Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the pardoning of convicts by President Salome Zurabishvili.

According to the agency, the investigation began into the alleged abuse of power in the process of the pardoning of convicts – Ramaz Devadze, Aslan Bezhanidze, Zurab Nadiradze and others.

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili pardoned 34 prisoners in connection with Virgin Mary Day on August 28 including three convicts charged for the murder and one person wanted by law enforcers.
