EU Integration Committee Chair: Zourabichvili's statements undermine Georgia and escalate geopolitical tensions
“In general, the travels of an ordinary citizen in any country tend to be less compelling. However, we cannot overlook the statements made by Salome Zourabichvili,” Levan Makhashvili, the European Integration Committee Chair, told the GPB First Channel.
According to Makhashvili, Salome Zourabichvili continues to blame Georgia to this day.
“Given the context of our current situation and the challenges our country has faced, it is troubling that she persists in holding Georgia responsible for various issues, such as allegedly evading sanctions. She accuses our nation of numerous fabrications, but what is particularly alarming are her calls to other nations to adopt a more aggressive approach towards Georgia, potentially turning our country into yet another flashpoint of geopolitical conflict—something we have diligently sought to avoid for many years.
It is crucial for her to fully grasp the weight of this responsibility; her words carry significant consequences that extend far beyond mere rhetoric,” Makhashvili asserted.
Makhashvili also highlighted a troubling detail: “Notably, in all her appearances, the Georgian flag has been conspicuously absent, which underscores how much these nations respect Georgia and her as a representative. We cannot help but feel that she is being used as a tool to further their foreign policy agendas.”
