President Michel made new proposal to Georgian political parties

“President of the European Council Charles Michel made a new proposal to Georgian political parties. This is a proposal that the President views as balanced and realistic,” the EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell stated at the briefing held after the meeting with political parties on Sunday.

According to him, some parties have requested time to consult the new proposal.

“Earlier today, US State Department and the EU High Representative issued a joint statement, underlining the seriousness which both the EU and the US is taking the current situation. In this statement, it was also mentioned that President Michel intended today to make a new proposal. It has just happened and I believe it also getting published for everyone to see. This is a proposal that the President views as balanced and realistic.

EU circulated this agreement to all parties, to the Georgian Dream and the opposition. Some parties indicated before this meeting the need to consult the new proposal and we have taken that into account. Hence, this evening’s meeting was a short one. We’re now looking forward to again convening the parties back here with a view to finalize this process as a way forward and end Georgia’s political crisis,” said Carl Hartzell.
