EU Ambassador – European Union is interested in how elections will be held rather than who comes in power

The European Union is interested in how elections will be held rather than who comes in power – Carl Hartzell, European Union Ambassador to Georgia told Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB).

According to Hartzell, European Union is closely monitoring the pre-election campaign including facts of pressure.

“When it comes to the electoral environment, the interest of the EU and all its member states is not who will come into power, but in how these elections will be conducted. We will observe the election campaign very carefully in this direction.

Currently we are observing incidents, including facts of pressure; we study these facts and reactions. I am glad that OSCE/ODIHR is arriving and the first group is already here. I hope that the number of election observers will increase and the mission will be of large-scale finally in Georgia,” EU Ambassador said.
