The European Parliament and the Council of Europe approved the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project and granted it the status of Projects of Mutual Interest (PMI).
According to the document published in the EU official magazine, the status means that the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project will be eligible for EU funding and will benefit from accelerated permitting.
The Black Sea Submarine Cable Project envisions constructing a digital and high-voltage underwater transmission link between Anaklia, Georgia and Constanta, Romania. The plan includes a 1,155-kilometer line (1,115 km underwater and 40 km onshore) with a capacity of 1,300 MW.
The European Commission granted the status of Projects of Mutual Interest (PMI) to 235 cross-border energy projects.
