Energo-Pro Georgia: Power restored to most of Telavi; outages persist only on Kavkasioni and Sekhniashvili Streets

Energo-Pro Georgia has announced that power supplies have been almost completely restored across the town of Telavi.

According to the company, electricity restrictions remain in place for only two specific locations: Kavkasioni Street and Sekhniashvili Street.

Following emergency operations by Energo-Pro Georgia’s technical team, power was fully restored by 23:00 last night, July 12. However, due to ongoing infrastructure works this morning, supplies to these two streets were temporarily disconnected again as a safety precaution.

In the early hours of July 12, torrential rainfall caused the Telaviskhevi River to burst its banks. The resulting mudslide flooded several streets in the town, inundating the ground floors of residential properties and buildings, damaging power lines, and destroying vehicles.

The National Environmental Agency has released its preliminary assessment of the disaster in Telavi. The agency stated that specialists remain on the ground to continue a detailed inspection of the disaster zone.
