Embassy maintains contact with Georgians in Israel, Ambassador Zhvania says
Israel’s situation remains tense. A mass evacuation has started in the coastal city of Ashkelon, Israel, said Georgian Ambassador to Israel, Lasha Zhvania.
The Embassy maintains contact with Georgian citizens registered at the Embassy, according to Zhvania.
“Those who live in apartments or work in families or caregiving for the elderly can apply for a shelter,” he said.
The Ambassador deemed the reports that the airport was closed “incorrect.”
The company “Georgian Airway” has stopped direct flights, switching to the Larnaca-Tbilisi route instead. Elal, Isrear, and Airk operate the flights daily. Over 11,000 people have traveled from Israel to Georgia via Batumi, Kutaisi, and Tbilisi in the last two weeks.”
