Electronic ID Cards to be issued free of charge to certain category of citizens

Electronic ID Cards will be issued free of charge to a certain category of citizens starting today at the initiative of Justice Minister of Georgia.

According to the Press Service of Ministry of Justice, the one-time activity aims at verification of the united voters’ lists, the perfection of the database and provision of citizens with modern and reliable identification documents.

Those citizens, who will have turned 18 by January 1, 2021, can use the activity. The citizens, who have not had any identification cards before July 1, 2019, are eligible to apply; those whose cards are abolished, whose photo on ID cards are of poor quality, those who are lifted off the registration, those who are registered without an address, also, those who are registered across occupied territories of Georgia and lack the status of internally displaced persons.
