Education Minister engages with Beijing Foreign Studies University’s Kartvelology students and staff

The Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, visited Beijing Foreign Studies University, where he met with staff and students involved in the Kartvelology programme.

Jia Wenjian, the President of the university, welcomed the Minister and highlighted the achievements of the Kartvelology department.

During his address, Givi Mikanadze spoke about the importance of strengthening cooperation with Beijing Foreign Studies University.

He highlighted the enduring friendly relations between Georgia and China, emphasising the need to deepen ties between the youth of both nations.

The Minister praised the Kartvelology Centre, which has been operating at the university for many years, recognising its vital role in promoting awareness of Georgian culture, traditions, and language.

The sides also discussed joint educational initiatives for Georgian and Chinese students, including youth camps designed to foster cultural exchange.

Students from the Kartvelology programme posed questions on topics of interest, to which the Minister provided comprehensive responses.

Concluding the visit, the young people performed a heartfelt rendition of the Georgian song “Suliko”.

Accompanying the Minister were Levan Grigiashvili, First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia; Paata Kalandadze, Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to China; and representatives from the Ministry and the Embassy.
