Education Committee Chair on Otar Partskhaladze: Status is not indulgence to evade responsibility

“If an individual goes beyond the interests of the country and commits a crime, he/she must be held accountable,” said Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the parliamentary Education Committee.

According to Lashkhi, status is not an indulgence to evade criminal responsibility.

“Whatever status an individual might have, it is not an indulgence to evade criminal responsibility. The state will be strict. The court will review Otar Partskhaladze’s case today. I hope such crimes will be prevented in the country. If an individual goes beyond the interests of the country and commits a crime, he/she must be held accountable,” she said.

For context, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) named former prosecutor general Otar Partskhaladze as organizer of businessman Levan Jangveladze’s murder.
