Economy Ministry calls claim on stalled Tskaltubo redevelopment ‘false’

The information claiming that the redevelopment of former sanatoriums in Tskaltubo is not underway is false and slanderous, the Ministry of Economy stated.

According to the ministry, six former sanatoriums in Tskaltubo have already been privatised under investment terms.

“We respond to the statement made by Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of Lelo – Strong Georgia, regarding hotel construction in Tskaltubo. The claim that the redevelopment of former sanatoriums is not in progress is a complete lie and slander.

The National Agency for State Property has been actively working in recent years to privatise former sanatoriums to restore the Tskaltubo resort and boost its tourism potential. The agency regularly shares information with potential investors both domestically and internationally. The privatisation process of state property is transparent and accessible.

Contrary to the above-mentioned false claim, six former sanatoriums have already been privatised under investment terms, with a total investment exceeding 51 million GEL,” the statement reads.

During a meeting with residents in Tskaltubo, Grigol Gegelia, a member of Lelo-Strong Georgia, claimed that no hotels had been purchased in the city and no projects were progressing.
