“Georgia and Serbia are connected by traditionally friendly relations and cultural proximity. This foundation of human and cultural ties allows us to further strengthen our political dialogue, economic cooperation, and people-to-people contacts,” the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, stated.

Kvrivishvili spoke about the importance of deepening political and economic cooperation between Georgia and Serbia during her address at the second session of the Georgia-Serbia Joint Governmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Belgrade.

“I wish to emphasise the mutual support and respect that Georgia and Serbia demonstrate towards one another’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This year, we mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Serbia. This significant date allows us to speak about the growing dynamic of our bilateral relations,” Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.

The minister underscored the recent visit of the President of Georgia, which, in her assessment, was significant in terms of bilateral readiness for the further deepening of cooperation between the countries. She also positively assessed the decision to open a full-fledged Serbian diplomatic mission in Georgia.

“We welcome the Serbian government’s decision to open a permanent embassy in Tbilisi in the near future, which will be yet another important step towards deepening our partnership,” Mariam Kvrivishvili noted.
