Economy Minister: Kazakhstan talks spotlight pivotal role of Anaklia Deep Sea Port in unlocking Middle Corridor potential
“Trade and economic relations between Georgia and Kazakhstan are experiencing a powerful upward trajectory,” Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili told reporters during the official Prime Ministerial visit to the Kazakh capital.
Kvrivishvili underscored that Kazakh interest in Georgia continues to grow rapidly.
“During the bilateral meetings held over the course of the Prime Minister’s visit, great emphasis was placed on further strengthening cooperation between our two nations, specifically within the framework of the Middle Corridor.
It is vital to note that we are collaborating very closely with the Republic of Kazakhstan and are witnessing a steady increase in cargo traffic. I’d like to highlight the context of the Middle Corridor, where Georgia plays an indispensable role. Throughout these meetings, specific attention was drawn to the strategic importance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, focusing on just how crucial this port will be not only for Georgia, but for the wider region and the overarching Middle Corridor network,” the Minister noted.
According to Kvrivishvili, the high-level meetings in Kazakhstan centred heavily on the Corridor’s economic viability. She further stated that Kazakhstan remains committed to investing in Georgia’s transport and logistics infrastructure, with future investments set to continue along this path.
“The discussions also highlighted broader cooperation within the transport sector, noting the immense value of direct flights between our countries. We are seeing a major expansion in direct air connectivity, which naturally brings an intensive rise in tourism.
Kazakhstan is a strategic partner for our national economy, covering tourism, trade, transport, and logistics. We believe that the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed during this visit sends another incredibly powerful message regarding the depth of our bilateral cooperation. Ultimately, it signals that both nations are highly motivated to expand trade and economic ties, and to drive further investment into Georgia,” Kvrivishvili added.
