Economy Minister holds talks with COSCO Shipping regional chief

Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili has met with Chen Huafeng, Regional Manager of Chinese maritime conglomerate COSCO SHIPPING Lines, on the sidelines of the Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2026) in Batumi.

According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the talks centred on the development prospects of the Middle Corridor, Georgia’s transit potential, and deepening bilateral cooperation in the maritime domain, with special emphasis placed on the flagship Anaklia Deep Sea Port project.

During the meeting, Kvrivishvili highlighted the strong momentum within Georgia’s maritime sector.

The Minister briefed the COSCO SHIPPING Lines executive on key mega-projects aimed at fortifying the nation’s transport and logistics infrastructure, revealing that USD 7 billion in strategic investments will be funnelled into the country’s transport and logistics network by 2032.

Kvrivishvili reiterated that Georgia attaches strategic importance to bolstering maritime connectivity and expanding partnerships with world-leading shipping lines.

The Deputy Ministers of Economy, Tamar Ioseliani and Genadi Arveladze, the Director of Anaklia Deep Sea Port LLC, Zurab Sichinava, the Director General of Georgian Railway, Lasha Abashidze, and the Director of the Maritime Transport Agency, Ivane Abashidze, attended the high-level meeting.
