Economy Minister: Georgia to be only country where passenger trains from Azerbaijan resume
“I would like to express my gratitude to our colleagues in Azerbaijan, who have demonstrated a special gesture towards our country. For the first time in six years, a passenger train will begin operating. This is significant for Georgia; we will be the only exception where a passenger train will start running from Azerbaijan,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, on Imedi TV.
As Kvrivishvili highlighted, given the current circumstances, the increase in tourist flows to Georgia is quite notable.
“Azerbaijan has been an important partner for many years. Today, with the two capitals connected only by air, the restoration of railway links will play a vital role in strengthening people-to-people connections, boosting trade and economic relations, and increasing tourist numbers, beginning right from the summer tourist season,” the minister stated.
