“The government expects to launch the construction tender for the rail access link to Anaklia Deep Sea Port by the end of October in coordination with international partners,” Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili announced during an appearance on Imedi TV.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development reported that the Economy Minister highlighted that intensive construction at Anaklia remains fully aligned with the government’s master timeline.

“Alongside building the core port infrastructure, it is vital that the state ensures the timely tendering for construction of both road and rail access links. Today, we can publicly confirm for the first time that negotiations with our international partners, specifically financial institutions, have concluded, whilst Georgian Railway has completed the detailed engineering design for the rail link connecting to Anaklia Port,” Kvrivishvili stated.

According to the Minister, issuing the tender will mark a crucial step forward into the next phase of Anaklia Deep Sea Port’s development. She added that it clearly demonstrates the state’s systematic approach to delivering key strategic assets.

“We have set out a precise roadmap with an accompanying timeline that all relevant authorities, led by the Ministry of Economy, are adhering to meticulously. Our primary objective is for Anaklia Deep Sea Port to welcome its first vessel in 2029, and we will do everything within our power to achieve that,” the Economy Minister said.
