Draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence tabled to Parliament

A draft Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence has been initiated in the Parliament of Georgia. The amendments will be brought to the Bureau session next Monday, after which they will be discussed.

The draft law requires “organisations carrying out the interests of a foreign power” to register in the National Agency of Public Registry with the same name and disclose the revenue.

The draft law authorises the Ministry of Justice to conduct research and study-monitoring of the issue at any time in a bid to identify the “organization carrying the interests of a foreign power”.

The organizations will be obliged to fill in the financial declaration every year.

Failure to register or complete the declaration will result in a 25,000 GEL fine.
