Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Sakhokia, accompanied by a delegation, has arrived in Azerbaijan on a working visit, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister held a meeting with Vilayat Eyvazov, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

“The discussion centred on the existing partnership between our two countries in the field of law enforcement and the prospects for its further development. Special emphasis was placed on the significance of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Georgia and Azerbaijan, signed on November 21 this year by the respective ministers,” the Ministry stated.

The conversation also covered cooperation between Georgian and Azerbaijani law enforcement agencies, the strengthening of the Police Attachés programme, and the priority areas for collaboration between police training institutions in both nations. They explored the importance of sharing best practices and organising joint training exercises and courses between police academies.

“At the conclusion of the meeting, Giorgi Sakhokia expressed his gratitude to Vilayat Eyvazov for his warm hospitality and fruitful cooperation.

As part of the programme, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, who also oversees Emergency Situations Management, attended ceremonial events commemorating the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations, alongside Teimuraz Mghebrishvili, head of the service.

Giorgi Sakhokia visited the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, familiarising himself with its infrastructure and educational programmes, and took part in a ceremonial parade honouring the milestone.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister visited the Alley of Honour and the Alley of Martyrs, where he paid tribute to the memory of Azerbaijan’s third President, Heydar Aliyev, and Azerbaijani heroes,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded.
