“The primary goal of the state is to ensure that road safety regulations are upheld. Compliance with these rules relies on drivers adhering to the requirements set out by the law,” stated the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.

According to the Deputy Minister, the state will continue to maintain rigorous enforcement to ensure that every violation is promptly identified and appropriately dealt with.

“The proposed amendments will introduce a tiered system of fines based on the severity and scale of the violation. For instance, minor speeding will incur a GEL 50 fine, while fines will increase progressively for higher speeds.

This tiered approach will ensure that, on the one hand, minor infractions attract lower penalties, whilst substantial speeding will face significantly higher fines. This differentiation will allow us to respond effectively to each specific traffic offence,” said Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.

For context, legislative amendments regarding administrative liability for speeding have been drafted, including provisions to ease certain penalties.
