Deputy Health Minister: Over 1 million Pfizer vaccine shots to arrive in Georgia
Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia welcomed the fact that about 5 000 people were getting Covide-19 vaccine jabs per day. However, she said that the target for immunization of at least 60% of the adult population by the end of the year required vaccination from 20 to 25 thousand people daily.
Gabunia said the situation about vaccine supplies was optimistic. According to the Deputy Health Minister, more than 1 million Pfizer vaccine shots would arrive in Georgia soon. The date would be announced.
Also, according to Tamar Gabunia, negotiations are ongoing on mobilizing additional shots of Chinese Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines. Johnson & Johnson and Novavax vaccine shots were expected to be provided in September through the Covax facility.
“This is enough stores of vaccines. Mobilizing additional medical institutions and their involvement in the immunization program is being considered for vaccines’ administering,” Tamar Gabunia claimed.
