Deputy Economy Minister: Record export volumes confirm Georgia’s growing production of internationally competitive goods
Georgia’s merchandise exports surged 8.9% in the January-July period of 2025, reaching a record high of over $3.8 billion USD, according to Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze. The country also posted record foreign trade turnover figures, reflecting continued strong economic activity growth trends.
The Ministry of Economy reports that total trade turnover increased 10.3% to $14.2 billion USD during the January-July 2025 period, also marking a historic high similar to export performance.
Deputy Minister Tsintsadze outlined several key factors behind the sustained positive trends in foreign trade.
“First and foremost, these indicators once again demonstrate that Georgia is increasing production of goods that are competitive not only in local markets but also internationally,” Tsintsadze stated.
He emphasized that export growth has been significantly supported by Georgia’s free trade agreements on one hand, and targeted programs aimed at developing small and medium enterprises and penetrating export markets on the other.
For context, 2024 also saw record export and trade turnover volumes, with exports growing 7.8% to $6.6 billion USD and total trade turnover increasing 8.1% to $23.4 billion USD.
