Defense Committee Chair: If Zourabishvili pardons Saakashvili, she will face wrath of Georgian people
“The public is no longer surprised by Salome Zourabichvili’s rhetoric or acts,” said the Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, Irakli Beraia, on Monday.
Beraia noted that “The President engages in anti-state acts.”
“Due to the degree of his irrationality, her actions cannot be predicted, although it is a fact that she is complicit in and instrumentalized in anti-state activities. Her breach of the constitution and her trip in violation of it are only two of the numerous instances of this that we have witnessed,” he went on.
Regarding Radoslaw Sikorski, the Polish Foreign Minister, who said to President Zourabichvili at the Munich Security Conference, “It is important that he [Saakashvili] is treated fairly and perhaps you can contribute to his release,” Beraia thinks that “all this was not said by chance, but [is] part of a well-coordinated activity.”
“I am not able to forecast the President’s actions in advance. She will undoubtedly face the wrath of the Georgian people even if she pardons Saakashvili. This should be well known to her.
I find Sikorsky’s comments to be reprehensible. This tone should not be used by the partner nation’s foreign minister. We are not going to interfere in the friendship between Sikorski and Saakashvili. May God let you have each other.
If he demands the release of a criminal, the creator of the state terrorism machine, and refers to him as one of the authors of the Georgian transformation, this is his problem. This would hardly benefit her,” he added.
