Defence Minister meets with new Turkish Ambassador to discuss bilateral defence cooperation and regional stability

Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Irakli Chikovani held an introductory meeting with Mustafa Türker Arı, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey.

The Minister extended his best wishes for the ambassador’s success in his new role. During the discussion, Irakli Chikovani highlighted Turkey’s substantial contribution to the development of the Georgian Defence Forces and the ongoing material and technical assistance provided. The meeting also covered bilateral and trilateral cooperation in the defence sector, as well as prospects for future collaboration.

The conversation underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, emphasising the strategic partnership between Georgia and Turkey and the need to strengthen it further.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Defence, was attended by First Deputy Minister of Defence Paata Patiashvili, Turkish Defence Attaché Colonel İlhan Oktendural, and representatives of the Turkish Embassy.
