Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani is paying an official visit to the Republic of Armenia, where he has met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Defense, the meeting focused on the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries, as well as current issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda.
“The sides emphasized the strategic partnership between Georgia and Armenia and discussed the importance of peace and stability in the region. Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani reaffirmed Georgia’s readiness to contribute to the development of regional cooperation,” the Ministry said.
Chikovani also highlighted the historical importance of the joint declaration signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington, noting that the agreement will play a key role in strengthening long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The parties additionally reviewed ongoing cooperation in the field of defense.
Irakli Chikovani is visiting Armenia at the official invitation of Armenian Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan.
