Davit Zalkaliani: Most likely Georgia will be among 15 safe countries that the EU will open the border

Davit Zalkaliani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, stated that the decision of the European Union regarding the opening of the borders will be announced today or tomorrow.

According to Davit Zalkaliani, the European Union is considering the list of safe countries, the decision has not been finalized yet, most likely Georgia will be among the 15 safe countries that the EU will open the border to.

“This is another important achievement and recognition that Georgia, our government have in the fight against the pandemic. I am confident that further regulations on the EU border crossing procedures will be taken by the European Union and our decision will be in line. We are waiting for the official document, which will detail these regulations and it will be based on the principle of reciprocity. Our regulations will also be in full compliance with the EU decision. Today or tomorrow, this decision will be made in Brussels”- said Davit Zalkaliani.
