“International law acknowledges Georgia’s territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders,” Davit Zalkaliani, Deputy Foreign Minister thus responded to the statement made by Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister in Vienna. “There is no such definition as independent Abkhazia or South Ossetia in international law,” Zalkaliani said.
“Russia respects territorial integrity of Georgia but recognizes independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia,” Sergey Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister thus answered question of First Channel’s journalist during a press conference held in Vienna, Austria.
Qetevan Kardava, journalist of First Channel asked Lavrov when Russia planned to recognize Georgia’s territorial integrity and stop occupation of Georgia’s regions.
Lavrov is taking part in a ministerial of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
