By holding a high level of meeting with the Presidents of Georgia and Ukraine, NATO is demonstrating how important countries they are for the organization, – Dalia Grybauskaitė, President of Lithuania made the regarding statement in Brussels, where NATO-Georgia-Ukraine meeting will be held within NATO Summit.

President of Lithuania says that strengthening and deepening of relations will be discussed at the meeting.

“We will discuss the future cooperation issues, further strengthening and deepening of relations with Georgia and Ukraine” – Dalia Grybauskaitė noted.

“We reaffirm the decision made at the 2008 Bucharest Summit that Georgia will become a member of NATO,” – the NATO Summit Declaration adopted yesterday reads. The document notes that MAP will be an integral part of Georgia’s integration into NATO. “We confirm all the elements of this decision, as well as further decisions. We welcome the progress achieved since 2008. We welcome the important role played by the NATO-Georgia Commission and the Annual National Program. We recognize the significant progress achieved by Georgia in terms of reforms, which should be continued. It helps Georgia, an aspirant country, to make progress in getting ready for membership and strengthen Georgia’s defense capabilities. Georgia’s relationship with the Alliance contains all practical tools to prepare Georgia for membership. We welcome the development of cooperation between NATO and Georgia on the Black Sea security. We highly appreciate Georgia’s significant contribution to NATO missions. This effort reveals the commitment and the capability of Georgia to contribute to Euro-Atlantic security,” the declaration reads.

“We support the territorial integrity of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova within the internationally recognized borders”, – reads the NATO summit declaration. NATO calls on Russia to withdraw troops from these three countries. “We strongly condemn annexation of Crimea by Russia,” reads the declaration. NATO leaders also call on Russia to abolish recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. We urge Russia to abolish the recognition of the regions of Georgia – Abkhazia and South Ossetia – as independent states and to comply with the August 12, 2008 ceasefire agreement, specifically to withdraw Russian troops from Georgia and stop militarization of these regions,”  – the declaration reads.
