Culture Committee Chair: 'Deep State' brings forth UK as a weapon against Georgia

“We see that attempts to bring destruction into Georgia’s domestic processes do not stop,” Giorgi Gabunia, majority MP and Chair of the parliamentary Culture Committee told reporters.

According to Gabunia, the “Deep State” brought forth the US as a weapon against Georgia.

“We remember USAID spending financial resources in Georgia to arrange public disorder and revolution. However, these attempts failed. Therefore, they put the USAID in the background and brought new British financial resources into the foreground, we have seen the statement of the British Foreign Ministry. The fact is that the ‘deep state’ put forth the US and we expect that the UK will be used as a weapon against Georgia in the near future,” Gabunia stated.

Giorgi Gabunia noted that the government would adequately respond to any attempts of destabilization.

British Foreign Ministry announced a grant competition in support of Georgia’s 2025 local elections. According to its statement, the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) invites Georgian non-profit organizations to submit applications by April 25, 2025, to support the effective conduct of the Georgian municipal elections scheduled for October 2025.
