Court sentences law enforcers who physically assaulted UNM’s Khabeishvili to imprisonment
Tbilisi Court sentenced law enforcers, who physically assaulted Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party, to imprisonment, Prosecutor Lasha Gamkrelidze announced.
According to the Prosecutor, two officers of the Special Task Force Department charged with exceeding their duties, admitted their guilt and agreed to the punishment measure imposed by the court.
The prosecutor further noted that the court hearing was held behind closed doors.
“The reason was the personal safety of the participants in the session. A number of investigative actions have been carried out in the case; about 550 people have been interviewed, hundreds of video recordings have been requested and these video recordings have been reviewed. The case is very important due to its scope.
Levan Khabeishvili was summoned for questioning, but he refused to provide information. If he expresses desire, he will be interrogated. Former Special Task Force officers are charged in Khabeishvili’s case, among them one is an acting employee of the State Security Service,” he said.
