Convoy officer indicted in connection with prisoners' escape

Chief convoy officer Iveri Natriashvili, charged in connection with the prisoners’ escape, has been officially indicted for careless actions, resulting in the disorganization of the penitentiary institution’s activities.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Investigation determined that the chief convoy officer did not accurately close the penitentiary service vehicle door that transferred the prisoners from Prison #15 to the Aversi Clinic for medical examination.

The convoy officer faces up to three years’ imprisonment. The prosecution will apply to the Tbilisi City Court in set terms.

Three prisoners escaped from the Tbilisi Aversi clinic on November 1 while on a medical examination. The Police detained all three escapers from the Aversi Clinic on November 2.
