Convergence of natural processes triggered Shovi landslide, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection says
Convergence of the natural processes caused the Shovi landslide, claiming 18 lives, said Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, adding that the first report on the disaster would be released today.
Tandilashvili also rebuffed the reports of streamflow blockage in the river, deeming it “unverified as our monitoring stations showed no water decline in the river basin.”
She also stated that a calamity of this magnitude was not predicted in Georgia’s western resort at this time.
