Competition Agency probes USA2GEORGIA for alleged violation of Consumer Rights Law

Georgian National Competition Agency has launched a probe into USA2GEORGIA’s alleged infringement of the Georgian law on Consumer Rights Protection.

According to the Agency, this issue stems from changes made to the way the company has calculated transportation costs when ordering goods from the US.

As per the agency’s statement, the shipping company USA2GEORGIA changed the weight calculation method from real weight to volumetric weight without notifying consumers, which resulted in higher costs.

The Competition Agency has received 70 applications since November 1st, and case studies on 23 instances have already begun.

The agency evaluates the matter within one month, which can be extended to up to three months, according to the norm stipulated by the legislation.
