The Georgian National Communications Commission (ComCom) published the guidelines for national broadcasters on the pre-election period coverage to ensure full compliance of their activities with the legislation.
According to ComCom, the informative recommendation document will assist the media representatives in conducting their professional duties correctly. It also outlines the measures the Commission would take if they violate the legislation.
The guidelines comprise the broadcasters’ obligations and requirements for airing political advertising, publishing public polls and organizing pre-election debates. It also includes facing fines per the Georgian law, Election Code and ComCom.
The Communications Commission hopes the guidelines will help broadcasters fulfil their obligations under the law.
