The Communications Commission (ComCom) has published its annual activity report for 2025, summarising the work carried out over the past year and setting out plans for 2026.
According to the ComCom, the annual report provides an overview of trends, achievements and challenges across sectors falling within its regulatory remit, including telecommunications and broadcasting. The document also contains detailed information on projects undertaken to advance media literacy throughout the country.
Among the significant topics covered in ComCom’s 2025 report are: the development of 5G in Georgia, monitoring of mobile communications service quality, the expansion of internet access across the country and digital literacy, a comprehensive study of the telecommunications market, research into IP peering and the development of internet exchange points (IXPs), and further matters besides.
The report provides a comprehensive analysis of development trends in the telecommunications sector and broadcasting industry, examined within the contexts of Georgia and the broader global landscape. It also presents information on the communications sector’s contributions to the national budget.
Concerning broadcasting, the report summarises the steps taken by the Communications Commission to improve the health of the media environment, including a discussion of the challenges facing the media and the current state of the advertising market. It also presents the findings of media monitoring conducted during the pre-election period, along with an analysis of paid and free political advertising.
The report additionally contains detailed information on projects carried out in the field of media literacy — initiatives through which the Communications Commission works nationwide to develop media literacy skills among young people, parents and teachers, to equip them to counter disinformation, to promote the safe use of the internet, and to foster critical thinking. Topics covered include the integration of media literacy into formal and non-formal education, media literacy competitions for pupils, students and schools, Media and Information Literacy Week, the Digital Support Programme, and more.
