ComCom hosts Conference within Global Media and Information Literacy Week
The Georgian National Communications Commission (ComCom) holds a conference in summing up the Global Media and Information Literacy Week.
ComCom Chair Kakha Bekauri opened the conference. He spoke about successful international examples and the significance of experience sharing, stressing the skills to distinguish fake news for making informed choices.
“This is very important both for the population, the society and the country, for the development of democracy,” said Kakha Bekauri.
Georgian Minister of Education and Science, EU Ambassador to Georgia, UNICEF representatives, WB Regional Director and other invited guests attended the conference.
A panel discussion is planned within the frames of the conference where Director General of the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) Tinatin Berdzenishvili will speak about the new platform 1tvplay.ge and digital media products development strategy.
Global Media and Information Literacy Week, celebrated annually since 2011, is a major occasion for mobilizing worldwide stakeholders to raise awareness to increase national take-up and celebrate the progress achieved towards Media and Information Literacy.
