CoE Deputy Ministers review General Secretary's consolidated report on Georgia
The deputy-level Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE) reviewed the General Secretary’s 31st consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia during the 1527th meeting held on April 30, 2025.
The report was presented by CoE Secretary General Alain Berset. Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia participated in the discussion.
This bi-annual report outlines the current situation in Georgia’s occupied regions and addresses the human rights conditions of local residents.
“Alain Berset welcomed Georgia’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict and reaffirmed that the Council of Europe, within its mandate, will continue its efforts, including the publication of consolidated reports on Georgia,” stated the Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry further noted that the CoE Secretary General condemned instances of Georgian citizens’ detentions and murders, and expressed concern over the limited access granted to international organizations.
During the meeting, Lasha Darsalia emphasized the ongoing violations of the August 12, 2008, ceasefire agreement and discussed developments in the Geneva International Discussions (GID).
“The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the CoE Secretary General’s 31st consolidated report and underscores the importance of maintaining this issue on the political agenda of the Council of Europe,” the Ministry declared.
