City Court sentences 5 individuals charged with group violence to imprisonment

Tbilisi City Court sentenced 5 individuals charged with group violence to imprisonment as a preventive measure.

The judge satisfied the motion of the prosecution on the ground of threat of escape, recurrence of crime and pressure on witnesses. The defence insisted on bail.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on November 2, in Spar supermarket, Manana Giorgobiani demanded to exchange paper GEL bills into coins from the store employees, and when refused, she became aggressive and verbally assaulted the cashiers. She threatened them with physical abuse.

After leaving the supermarket, she organized a group violence involving young men, who physically assaulted the store staff, inflicted bodily injuries and escaped from the crime scene.
