Citizens, who cannot wear medical face masks due to health condition, should obtain a special certificate and will not be fined – Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee said during the plenary sitting.

Okhanashvili is presenting legislative changes regarding compulsory use of medical face masks in the supreme legislative body.

According to Okhanashvili, medical institutions will be issuing relevant certificates upon application. Otherwise, citizens who violate the rule for wearing a medical face mask will face the fine in the amount of 20 GEL.

Georgian lawmakers are discussing the legislative changes with the first reading. Representatives of the parliamentary opposition and independent MPs are not attending the sitting.

Based on the proposed changes, wearing of medical face masks will be compulsory in closed spaces, public transport and taxi. In case of violation of the rule, physical persons will be fined with 20 GEL, while legal entities – 500 GEL.
