Georgian Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas on January 7. Traditionally, the Christmas procession Alilo was held in Tbilisi.
The procession participants gathered at First Republic Square and marched through Tbilisi’s central streets, singing carols and collecting donations for orphanages. Their final stop will be the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral.
Alilo has been a tradition for 22 years. Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II initiated it in 2000.
