Christmas procession Alilo will be held in Tbilisi and the regions of Georgia on January 7.
The tradition of holding Alilo restored in 2000 at the blessing of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II.
Alilo will kick off at 2 p.m. from First Republic Square. Representatives of the parliament, Tbilisi City Hall, Sakrebulo and the President will meet the procession participants. Alilo will end at the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in Tbilisi.
“Christmas, among other religious holidays, is a celebration of renewal, a better future, hope and faith. We will celebrate Christmas together again this year and we will share this universal joy, especially with the people who need it the most, said the Georgian Orthodox Church.
