Chergoleishvili: We must show every citizen their own interest, including unaware and entrapped in status quo
“There is only one way for Georgia’s independence to endure: the regime must step down. To preserve Georgian identity, which means European, the regime must resign,” declared Tamar Chergoleishvili, leader of the Federalists party, during her speech at the ongoing rally on Rustaveli Avenue.
According to Chergoleishvili, “the regime will only step down when the Georgian people leave it no other choice.”
“For us to regain power and hold free elections, the regime must resign. For justice to be restored, for political persecution and violence against conscience to cease, the regime must go. To ensure our children receive a proper education, and for ourselves and our elders to enjoy a dignified old age, the regime must step down. Bidzina Ivanishvili will not relinquish power voluntarily; the regime will not step down on its own. It will only do so when the Georgian people leave it no alternative. That moment will come when every street and alley in Georgia is filled just as we have filled Rustaveli today.
To spread the desire for change across Georgia like a contagion, we, the political spectrum, need to show every citizen their own interests, and those of their families, within our agenda. Including those who are today entrapped in the status quo because they do not realise they are failing. It is our fault, as the political spectrum, that we have not succeeded in doing this so far.
But today, more than ever, I believe we can and will do it again and again, because you have left us no other choice. Long live you, long live a free Georgia. Freedom for political prisoners and down with the regime,” Chergoleishvili declared.
Additionally, Tamar Chergoleishvili noted, “The Strategy Agmashenebeli has joined forces with the democratic movement.”
She continued, “Another piece of news, we are expanding. The Strategy Agmashenebeli has allied itself with democratic forces, not autocratic ones. Nana Tokhvadze now represents this party. I welcome the leaders of this party, who are political prisoners, and have hope in us,” she added.
