Roman Gotsiridze, Chairman of National Movement faction asks Parliament Speaker Archil Talakvadze for being given the right to visit 2 persons detained into Davit Gareji case.

Gotsiridze said that the refusal on coronavirus motive could not be received. MP claimed that since 1991, the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgia had not lost territories and no agreement had been reached over borders between Georgia and Azerbaijan.

“This case will stay as a black blot in the history of Georgian politics for the ruling party. Everything that is done over this particular case is false. The case is used for political purposes ahead of the elections and will be closed after the elections likewise many other fabricated cases by Georgian Dream,” Gotsiridze said.

Iveri Melashvili and Natalia Ilychova, two persons accused of acting against the territories of Georgia detained into the case of Davit Gareji monastery complex, were imposed imprisonment on October 8.

The Prosecutor’s Office arrested Iveli Melashvili, Head of the Border Relations Service of Department of Neighboring Countries and Natalia Ilychova, Chief Inspector of the Land Border Defense Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia on October 7 as part of the ongoing investigation into the case of David Gareji.

The investigation was launched on August 17, 2020, based on written information received from the Ministry of Defense of Georgia regarding the activities of the Government Commission on Delimitation and Demarcation of State Borders of Georgia. The two detainees do not plead guilty.
