CEC reminds parties of accreditation deadlines for October 4 local government elections

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has issued a reminder that media representatives must apply for accreditation by September 29. Local observation groups need to submit their applications by September 24, while international observers have until September 27.

The elections on October 4 will see Georgians elect 64 mayors and 2,058 council (Sakrebulo) members across 64 districts, using both proportional and majoritarian or single-mandate systems. Nearly 90% of voters will cast their ballots using verification and vote-counting machines at 3,051 polling stations, including 2,284 electronic and 767 traditional sites.

The election administration is operating at full capacity to ensure a professional and transparent process, with ongoing activities aligned with the election timetable. Regular meetings between the CEC and district commissions reinforce the commitment to transparency.

The CEC urged all involved—media, international observers, and local NGOs—to complete their accreditation procedures promptly.

“The deadline for media accreditation is September 29 at 18:00; local observers must apply by September 24 at 18:00; international observers by September 27 at 18:00.
