CEC publishes details of party lists and candidates registered for upcoming municipal elections
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released information regarding the party lists, mayoral, and single-mandate (majoritarian) candidates registered for the forthcoming municipal elections.
According to the CEC, twelve political parties and their respective lists have been registered for the elections, with nine mayoral candidates registered in Tbilisi.
“The Election Administration is providing details on the party lists registered for the October 4, 2025, elections to municipal bodies, including the City Council (Sakrebulo) and the Mayor of a Self-Governing City or Community, as well as the mayoral and majoritarian candidates.
Twelve political parties and their lists are registered for the elections. In Tbilisi, nine mayoral candidates have been registered. All twelve political alliances submitted party lists for the Tbilisi City Council elections.
Beyond Tbilisi, a total of 112 mayoral candidates are registered across the remaining 63 municipalities, including four nominated by initiative groups. Regarding single-mandate candidates in local electoral districts, a total of 2,228 candidates are registered for the October 4 elections, with 160 in Tbilisi. Initiative groups submitted 32 candidates.
Notably, to streamline the registration process, the CEC adopted resolutions that simplified procedures for registering candidates affiliated with political unions. For the first time, political unions could submit party lists for municipal elections electronically and remotely. They were also permitted to submit mayoral and majoritarian candidates remotely,” the CEC stated.
