CEC delegation continues meetings with international partners in US
The delegation of the Central Election Commission (CEC) continues its meetings with international partners in the US. After the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), the CEC delegation held meetings with representatives of the US State Department and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
According to the CEC press office, the 2024 parliamentary elections and activities, challenges, and needs of Georgia’s election administration in this regard were discussed at the meetings. Additionally, the importance of voter information amid technology adoption was noted.
As the CEC Chairperson, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, stated following the meeting: “IFES is a valuable partner with whom we’ve successfully collaborated for years. Strengthening this partnership is crucial for further support in enhancing election administration across various areas. This partnership was emphasized from their side, and the successful continuation of cooperation was noted.”
“We also had an important meeting at the State Department, where there was an interesting exchange of ideas regarding the elections planned for next year. We shared the election administration’s vision concerning our activities and challenges with them. We discussed the importance and need to strengthen international partnerships. At the meeting, we emphasized that the election administration welcomes the involvement of international organizations in the electoral process. In this regard, the administration will be open and transparent to all international partners.”
The visit commenced on November 28 and will end today.
