CEC Chair meets U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee delegation

Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia, Giorgi Kalandarishvili met the House Foreign Affairs Committee (HFAC) Delegation Members,  along with representatives of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

According to the CEC press office, a key topic of today’s meeting was the October 26, 2024 Elections.

Giorgi Kalandarishvili provided the meeting participants with detailed information regarding the use of electronic technologies in the October 26 Elections, large-scale information campaign and crucial novelties.

‘The Election Administration continues its meetings with international organizations and observer missions to ensure that they have comprehensive and precise information related to each emerging and vital issue. Cooperation with electoral stakeholders and informing them in a timely manner are considered as crucial components by the Election Administration, having a positive impact on the electoral environment. At today’s meeting, I thoroughly covered persistent challenges of the institution and the influence of disinformation in the electoral process in addition to various crucial issues. Short time remains before the October 26 ElectionsAccordingly, the Administration spares no effort to conduct the October 26 Elections in compliance with international and European standards,” stated Giorgi Kalandarishvili following the meeting.

Delegation Members positively evaluated the EA’s initiatives in technology and informing voters. According to them, the international society will carefully observe the October 26 Elections,” reads the statement.
