A working meeting was held between representatives of Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) and the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara (SEC), the CEC has reported.

Chairs of both commissions, CEC’s Giorgi Kalandarishvili and SEC’s Parmen Jalagonia, opened the session.

“According to Giorgi Kalandarishvili, the SEC is a vital part of the electoral administration, which makes it essential that the existing practices on various election matters are actively discussed between the two agencies. He emphasised that such working meetings foster close coordination, strengthen communication, and aid the development of election procedures. The SEC Chairman also noted that one of the primary objectives of organising this meeting is to further enhance cooperation and facilitate information exchange on electoral issues.

During the meeting, the CEC Chair highlighted the crucial role of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara’s Election Commission in the preparations for the October 4 elections, particularly regarding the administration of election procedures and voter outreach. Together with SEC representatives, Giorgi Kalandarishvili discussed in detail the past parliamentary elections and reflected on the lessons learned thus far. Special attention was given to challenges posed by disinformation and strategies for joint efforts to combat it.

The discussion also covered ongoing information campaigns and educational initiatives that both agencies are implementing on a large scale to inform and engage voters.

Another key topic was the 2025 municipal elections and proposed legislative amendments. Giorgi Santuriani, Head of the CEC’s Staff and Legal Department, provided detailed insights into these issues. Participants examined various electoral regulations and addressed significant concerns in this regard.

The working meeting, organised by the Supreme Election Commission of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, took place in Sairme on September 10-12,” the CEC stated.
